How to update your device to Alexa compatible firmware version.

We recently received customer complaints about the failure of Zmodo devices to work with Alexa skills on the Echo Show or the Echo Spot, we found that the root cause of these issues was that the Zmodo devices belonging to the users were not updated to the latest firmware. Zmodo had made this update available to customers through our platform, which would be accessible when customers click the Live View option on the device, choose the Device Setting icon on the upper right corner, press the three dots (...) on the upper right corner and click the "New Version Available" message under Device Version. Once updated, the device would be compatible with Alexa.

The following table shows a list of devices that have been Alexa certified, along with versions that are incompatible with Alexa.

Please following the steps to update your device firmware version

Live View – Device Setting – Icon in upper right corner – Device Version – Click "New Version Available"

The Zmodo platform was updated on Aug 2, 2018. With the updates, if the current device version is incompatible with Alexa, their Alexa device will respond with a message to ask the customer to upgrade their device to the latest version. Specifically, the message will be "Sorry, xxx has outdated firmware, please visit the device manufacturers to update the firmware." A compatible firmware version has been released for all products that are Alexa-certified. Customers will be able to update Zmodo device to the compatible firmware version from the Zmodo app.
